Hit by flak and collided with B-17 #43-38145 on 04 August 1944.


Eye Witness Statements

Lt. William Dale’s crew saw aircraft 909 get hit by flak and nose over colliding with aircraft 145. Both started down but after falling 2000 feet 145 pulled out. The top turret gunner of 909 seemed to hit the ball turret of 145. After collision, the prop of 145 chewed into the nose of aircraft 909. The left wing of 909 was broken off.

909 was seen to turn over on its back and split s down disappearing into the clouds at about 15000 feet. No chutes were reported seen from 909.
