The AAF placed a second order with Douglas to continue Long Beach production after the initial order for 600 Flying Fortresses. Even before the order of 600 was completed, Long Beach began delivery of the B-17G series. The delivery status of G series is indicated in the remarks column of the Individual Aircraft Record Cards.
Long Beach had ceased deliveries of the F series with the completion of block F-65-DL . The idea that Douglas re-instituted deliveries of the G series is counter intuitive.
According, what prima facia documents lead you to list second order serial numbers in the 42-377XX range as F-80 & 85?
P.S. Bowers or another West Coast author used factor documents that did not reflect production records. Factory Production and delivery records; or AAF initial (first) acceptance records would reflect the actuals.
