B-17 44-6441 Mary Rose . I have a copy of the crash inquiry report if anyone is interested. There was also one uk army officer on board Capt Ken Riley Royal Signals attached SOE who died.
The report clarifies how the aircraft hit the side of the hill after the pilot aborted the landing in poor visibility.

I am delighted by your contact and am very happy to pass in all I know about the tragic crag of Mary Rose resulting in the death of your a father in law and my wife’s uncle.

If you could email me directly I can reply directly rather than through these other web sites. I am baffled why some of this is through a German website.
I have the main three page USAF report on the crash which is sad reading but very comprehensive. The actual location of the crash has proved very difficult to pinpoint but my wife and I were able visit he uncles grave in the British Military. Cemetery in Naples . I wondered where the other AAF casualties including your Father in Law, Major Joe Kenneth McCarthy, are buried.

Charles, I am an historian with Stories Behind The Stars. Our charger is to research, write, and publish the stories of fallen WWII service personnel. I have drawn the name of Sgt. Millicent M. Yeats. I’ve noticed you said you could provide a copy of the crash investigation of the Mary Rose. I think information like that could help my story a great deal. My grandfather’s brother is Otto Teaschner. My Mother heard the same story, crashed into a mountain.

Capt. Seymour S Weisberger was my great-grandfather’s youngest brother’s son. He was born in Barberton , Ohio, was 27 at the time and unmarried with no children. He is buried at Rose Hill Burial Park , Fairlawn, Summit County, Ohio, USA.
