Delivered Cheyenne 28/2/43; Pueblo 13/3/43; Presque Is 8/4/43; Assigned 511BS/351BG [DS-W] Polebrook 16/4/43; Missing in Action 6m T/Ops (Hannover) 17/7/43 with Bill Peters, Co-pilot: E. Eslund, Bombardier: P. Shanes, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: E. Atwood, Radio Operator: R. Martin, Ball turret gunner: Tom Dye, Waist gunner: W. Hunter, Waist gunner: J. McGee,Tail gunner: A. Chacon (9 Returned to Duty); Navigator: Fred Wattles (Killed in Action); flak, ditched North Sea, and sunk in seconds. Crew picked up by RAF Walruses L2307 & L2238, which had to taxi back to Yarmouth as sea too rough to take off. SNOW BALL.
