Mr Treon,
I would love to connect with you. My uncle, Captain Charles E Gibson of Monticello, Mississippi had been a part of this crew as copilot until he got his own plane and crew. He flew at least 12 of his 25 missions with this crew and named his own plane after my mom, his baby sister. He would have known your dad well. The plane your dad was shot down in was actually my uncle’s plane that they were flying on this mission. He wrote about the loss in his war diary and spoke of them in the past tense. He may never have learned they survived the war as a POW.
Uncle survived his missions only to die in a training crash in Kansas.
I have additional details. Please reach out!
