The Missing Air Crew Report number 3822 states the following, based on accounts of returned crews:

Aircraft No. 42-30197 received some damage from enemy anti-aircraft fire on bombing run. He called over VHF saying that he was unable to keep up with the formation. At this time his No. 3 engine was out and another engine was failing. They left the formation after declaring their intensions to head for Sweden. They were last seen at 1312 hours, heading north and with the aircraft under control. No chutes were seen to leave this aircraft.
