Just found this entry for the first time. Dad was the waist gunner. He transferred to Scott’s crew after dad’s crew “lady bedlam” did not return from a flight he had to sit out. Thanks for posting.

My uncle, Phillip Lorbach, was part of this plane’s crew (tail gunner) and was KIA on 8 March, 1944.

Gary Black, My Dad, John Bleau, knew Phillip Lorbach. I assumed Phillip was a waist gunner as well, this maybe wrong. The story I remember was how My Dad was shot in the legs and Phillip was next to him somehow, and took bullets in the chest and was gone quickly. I think my father went to see Phillip’s parents after the war. Just seeing this note so many years later. So sorry about your uncle, it was a terrible event. I think I have a letter sent by Phillip’s parents asking if any crew members familiy had heard of theirs son. They shared information to account for the missing crew.
