In WW2 my uncle flew on the London Revenge more then 15 missions
(still researching) I have his log of all 35 missions. In the log he said Avenger had 74 missions before he and his crew started flying her. She had a reputation of having bad Luck ……..BUT SHE ALWAYS CAME BACK! His Log said that she was going to come back to the states a War Hero Like The Memphis Bell…. obviously she did not per this posting of the crash. Her crash was with a new crew less than a month after he and his crew were in Kimbolton England flyng her . I am looking for pictures of London Revenge of any kind and at any time in her life span. My Uncle said she had been hit so many time and patched that there were as many areas of shiny aluminum as there was left of her original alive green paint. Please send me anything you have about the plane.

My father , Capt Robert C. Sawyer was captain kf the London Avenger out of Kimbolton England.

My father Keith Phinney was the pilot of the London Avenger. He belly landed the plane and the entire crew survived. It was his 8 mission in that plane. He flew 37 missions in all the last was in April of 1945. I have pictures of the plane and crew before and after the belly landing.

My father Lt. Robert A Hughes a bombardier and his crew with the 379th Bomb Group flew one mission on 7/5/1944 aboard the London Avenger. There target was Volkel, Netherlands. That was the only time he bombed the Netherlands out of his 35 missions. All the rest were in France or Germany.
