B-17G Number 684 lost number one engine to fighter fire and regained his position in formation after jettisoning his bombs. A few minutes later number two engine was lost, feathered, and the ship peeled out of formation losing altitude, heading back in the opposite direction. I last saw the ship at about 48°05’E, 17°55’N.
