My grandfather, Hugh “Mac” McGinty is pictured in the back row on the far left. He was the tailgunner.

I am the Great nephew to Navigator 2nd Lt. William Charles Rau. He was on mission #61 to Frankfort Germany on 1/29/1944 and was mortally wounded after they released their bombs on target and we’re on the return trip home when he was struck by AA Flak in the legs and abdomen and he was able to give course corroborates for the crew to return home and he died in the arms of his comrade Nathan Matthew the Bombadier on the mission .Your Grandfather was the tail gunner on that mission as well and I’m glad he survived the war.
