My Great Uncle Hank Ford was navigator on this bird. Our family still has his flight logs.

Mike, Michael O. Austin, my uncle and namesake, was a gunner on this flight. I am trying to learn more about the organization that rescued the aircrew after ditching and how they were returned to their Squadron. In his letters home, my uncle was very careful about classified information, so we know nothing of their rescue and return. Unfortunately, he was killed along with most of his aircrew on October 13, 1944 during a bombing mission near Vienna Austria, so the family never heard the story of the ditching and rescue. I’m hoping that your records will reveal some information. Thanks, Mike
