My father is Lawrence Kleinman’s namesake. Is there anything further you can tell us about Larry’s military career and how he passed away? My grandmother Isabel was his wife. She was not told by the crew men about his last days because they thought the information would be to much for her to bare. She has passed away and we are only left with various conflicting stories about what happened to Larry.

Larry was killed right after orders were given to abandon the aircraft because they had lost 3 of the planes engines due to enemy fire. All 9 of the men in the aircraft were able to parachute out. Larry was struck and killed by a piece of the plane as the plane started to come apart in the air. I am unsure if his body was ever recovered. I only just started researching this. A dear friend of mine father was a gunner on this plane with Larry. He was taken as a POW, he made it home from the war. So sorry for your families loss, I hope this helps
