Dear Mr. Rose,
Your father Marshall and my father Robert C. Thickpenny (“Bob”) were great friends and went through technical training together in 1943 at Laguardia’s school of aeronautics, Casey Jones school in Newark, and Roosevelt Field Long island. My father was from San Francisco and Marshal took him to DC and many weekends to cousin Marion’s and her husband Reginald’s beautiful home in Great Neck. Many pictures were taken which my father passed on to one of my siblings. Both of our fathers are heroes of America’s Greatest Generation. Feel free to contact me by email. Mr. Rose, did your father ever mention the bottom gunner Paul Williams? He was also POW. I am his grandson and would be grateful hearing any history you have. Thank you.

My father was the co-pilot of Return Ticket and Emil Urban was the pilot. They completed their 30 missions on April 26, 1944. The plane was lost with the next crew. The picture shows my father, George D Hooker, second from the left on the front row. Capt Urban Is first on left. Dad retired as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force.
