B-17 42-5262 Details

The aircraft which Stevenson was a crew member, left formtion and started to return to base after an attack by a german FW 110 [sic] aircraft, but was forced to turn back over France as one engine was smoking and another was feathered. It is believed by other crews that the plane went down west of Lorient, France, on Penmarch Point.
