Hello,
I’m doing a project on Miss X, the B17 bomber that was flown by a 1st Lt. John “Jack” Joseph Lee from Salem, Massachusetts.
Can you point me in a strong direction so that I can research more about, not only the plane itself and its missions, but what became of it following the war. I know it ended up as scrap metal, sadly, but I need to secure more information on this beloved bomber that Lt. Lee rather cherished.
Any suggestions, guidance, or direction is greatly appreciated. And have a very Happy Holiday that’s approaching soon.

My father, Carl C. Kircher was the belly gunner for Miss X. I met Jack Lee at one of the bomber reunions my family attended. (it was in Seattle,WA) He passed many years ago, unfortunately his medals, ribbons, dog tags, and pictures of the plane and her crew were stolen a little over a year ago. So nice to see her again!
