Original image description:
The official designation for the troop-ferrying operations carried on between Istres Le Tube airport near Marseilles, and Casablanca in North Africa, was “The Green Project”. It was conducted by two heavy bombardment groups under the supervision of the 40th Bomb Wing of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe. In the first month and a half, after the first troop-laden Boeing B-17 took off from Istres airport, over 20,000 passengers were carried. These included civilians as well as combat veterans from southern France. Here, redeployed vets are waving to pilot, F/O Richard S. Humphries of Watertown, N.Y., pilot of the Boeing B-17 Eileen’s Kindergarten, as they leave the plane after landing at Cazes Airfield in Casablanca, Morocco.

Wrong! That is my father Cpt. Homer C. Seavey in the cockpit of that aircraft, my father named the aircraft after my mother, and he would take care of the very young men he had abord every mission she was in.

I am very sorry, that the original description of the photo is wrong.
I didn’t know that and why the photographic unit wrote the wrong name.

Hello Mark,
I’m the eldest grandson of Homer’s co-pilot James M. McKay. I just found this image and some info on my grandpa and your dad. My grandfather is without a doubt the best man I have ever known. I’m struggling to think of something meaningful to say to you, but I’m going to give it a go.
God bless your dad and all the men who flew with him. I look forward to thanking them both when we all receive our eternal rest in our Lord Christ Jesus who my grandpa made sure I knew. I want to thank him for protecting his young crew and having his wife on his mind and shown reverence with the name of his plane. I know my grandpa loved my grandma to his dying day and there is no way of knowing what influence your dad had on my grandpa, but I’m sure the good I got to see in him is a reflection of your father.
All that being said I pray you and your family are well and I want to thank you for your comment which brought me joy.
