B-17 44-8121 Details

The A/C was attacked by enemy fighters from 6 o’clock at about 1228. After the attack someone said that the right wing was on fire. Major Nash said he was going to call the formation that he was aborting. The fire developed quickly, and the pilot told the crew to bail out. Major Nash bailed out ahead of Lt. Dumler but has not been seen since.
