My father (Richard G. Hackworth) was member of crew. Shot down 1/3/43 and was POW for 28 months. 20 months were at Stalag 17. He was in the first group of American POWs to arrive at Stalag 17 in Oct 1943,

Yea that is what I keep seeing as well although there is a French website that is saying it was called Daisies Coffee Shop? But it has not been authenticated and I don’t know how they came up with that either. Found it on the website: https://www.absa3945.com/Pertes%20Bretagne/Loire%20Atlantique/pertes_usaaf_loire_atlantque.html. I contacted the bomb group association and they as well could not corroborate either. I guess it is possible that it just didn’t have any markings. Don’t know the Code either that it would have carried.

Hi Robert my father was a crew member of 41-24501. I have confirmed the nickname for this plane was “Daisy’s Coffee Shop” if you are interested in any other information I will be more than glad to give you what I have. I have been in contact with Kevin Andis. I was able to confirm the name today. Found a French website that had this info and much more. It even talked about the mission.

Hello,
I’m from the town where the bomber crashed, if the bomber’s nickname is confirmed as ‘Daisy’s Coffee Shop.’ I’d be delighted to inform local historians.

Kevin Andis actually found photos of my father Robert Lee Kingen and Lames E Ferguson right after they were captured! Thanks so much to Kevin for sending pictures and his efforts for researching the crew of 41-24501 Daisy’s Coffee Shop.
