B-17 42-102435 / Double Wallop Details
A/C 435 was flying No. 2 position of the high squadron of the 388th A (lead Group). At the IP, No. 4 engine was smoking, the prop windmilling and the a/c was losing gas. The a/c dropped back from the formation and then called the group leader and requested a heading to Switzerland and presumably went there. No chutes reported.
