Delivered Cheyenne 25/3/43; La Guardia 10/4/43; Assigned 92BG Alconbury 24/4/43; transferred 335BS/95BG [OE-W] Framlingham 19/5/43; transferred 3m 323BS/91BG [OR-M] Bassingbourn 16/6/43; Missing in Action 7+m Le Bourget 16/8/43 with Eldon Smith, Co-pilot: Jim Cramer, Navigator: Melbourne Banowetz, Bombardier: Lloyd Hansen, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Harry Lyberger, Radio Operator: George Schmitt, Ball turret gunner: Felix Antonnacchio, Waist gunner: Tom Bone, Waist gunner: Vernon Miller,Tail gunner: Joe Mazzola (10 Returned to Duty); internal explosion severing #1 & #2 control cables, so turned back but ditched Channel, rescued by Air Sea Rescue taken to Newhaven, Sussex.
