Statements of Eyewitnesses

I the undersigned was flying in A/C #921, 20 September 1944, with the 340th Bombardment Squadron, 97th Bombardment Group on mission to Budapest S. RR Bridge. After the bomb run I saw A/C 256 with #3 engine on fire, and under control. #3 engine was feathered as he was losing altitude rapidly. That is all I saw of A/C 256

I the undersigned was flying in A/C #921, 20 September 1944 on mission with the 340th Bombardment Squadron, 97th Bombardment Group. After the bomb run I saw Aircraft 256, with one engine on fire. The A/C was losing altitude and had one engine feathered. Last saw of the Aircraft it was under control.
