Eye Witness Statement

Ship No. 640 of the 775th Bombardment Squadron (H) was flying in No. 4 position of Able. We encoutered heavy, accurate flak between Brux and Dresden, Germany. The Ship (640) left formation a few minutes before we cleared the flak area. No. 3 Engine was feathered but there were no signs of smoke or flame, and it seemed under perfect control. It was last seen at an altitude of about 20000 feet.
