My grandfather Irvin Ziegman was one of the POW’s captured when the Roger Dodg er was shot down. He was a Jew and if the Germans would’ve known that he’d probably not have made it back alive and I wouldn’t be here talking to you. Irvin was a decorated war hero and lived in Omaha Nebraska after the war. He owned a gun shop and several apartment buildings in Omaha, Nebraska . He survived the POW camp by his last name being Ziegman and he has red hair and blue eyes. The Germans thought he was a German American and actually treated him better than most.
The spelling of Irvin Ziegman in your article has his name spelled Irwin.. it is Irvin not Irwin. Thank you for correcting his name in advance.
Sincerely,
Douglas Wolkow son of Sharon Ziegman, Irvin Ziegman’s daughter.
