I finally figured out that the B-17 bomber named Section 8 was the plane my uncle Bill Sexton was shot down in and served the remainder of the war in a pow camp. Of course my uncle never spoke of any of this and now I find it fascinating that I’ve even found an 83 page account of the downing of the plane and reports of what happened to the crew. I even wonder if he’s one of the guys in the photo with the plane Section 8.

My Great-Grandfather, Herb Zipfel, was also on this plane and served as a POW after the crash. Where did you find the document?

Here is your great grandfather Herb Zipfel service record. I believe him and my uncle were also sent to the same pow camp.
