Williams,[65] of the 99th Bomb Squadron, collide ~10 miles SW of Brooksville Army Airfield, Florida,[68] killing four officers and five enlisted men, reports Brigadier General Hume Peabody, commander of the Army Air Forces Tactical Center (AAFTAC), at Orlando. One victim is Sgt. Benjamin B. Estes, son of J. M. Estes, Burley, Idaho
One of these my father was assigned to be on. The only flight he was ever late for. Haunted him that someone else had to go and died in his place.
