Melvins last name was Gerhold, not “Germany”. I know this because he was my paternal Grandfather

Hi Rich, I am the niece of the pilot, Jim Rosborough. He was my maternal uncle. He died over a decade prior my birth.
I have always wondered the exact locatio of where the bomber went down. And my memory is foggy with other information.
Would like to know the info you have. I believe one of the surviving crew retired in New Mexico. I am sure he has passed by now. Uncle Jim and co-pilot Matlack (?) headstone at St. Louis…assume the remains were never covered. Its just questions like these have made me very curious over the years. My mother was never really able to talk about it. It was just too sad for her to remember, of course.
Hope to hear from you or anyone else as I am not sure how all this works.
Until then, take care,
Peggy

Hi Peggy, Mel was my grandpa. Their B-17 went down over Munich on July 12, 1944. Grandpa passed in 2010 and is dearly missed. If you go to the website http://www.384thbombgroup.com and search your uncles name, you will find his mission information and an image of the Aces and Ates crew. I hope this helps you on your journey to learn more about how incredible and brave your Uncle Jim was!

Hi Peggy and Rich. My name is Seth Schroer, from Strong City, KS. Victor Brecht, our waist gunner, was my great uncle. Peggy, I have tried for years to find a member of Rosborough’s family, this is really great that you are on here. I have a copy of his high school yearbook, as well as some letters my uncle wrote during training here in the states, to his wife, which speak of Jim. I also have letters from Victor wrote from England that have been proofread and censored by Jim. Rich, I have spoken to your family a few years ago and they sent me a copy of the video interview your grandpa did. That video is probably the best source of information I have received in all my years of looking. What a great man. I would love to speak to both of you. I don’t know if this will be removed by the moderators, but my phone number is 620-273-8228. Or email at schroerperformance@yahoo.com I hope to hear from you soon -Seth
