Ed Palmer was my uncle. I really only heard his story one time when I visited him shortly after I joined the AF. He was in Stalag Luft III (of “Great Escape” fame) He was there after the events depicted in the movie. He was liberated by the Soviets. I believe he said they were moved to another camp near the end and actually liberated from that camp.
