My uncle “alf” Cole was the tailgunner on 43-38575. I would greatly appreciate any information you may have on the aircraft, crew, and of course my uncle. I know very little as my family never talked about him. even little things like the name of the plane, possibly copies of any personal photos from your father of the plane, crew etc. would be extremely appreciated

I recently came across some photos shared with me by my maternal uncle. Among them is a group photo which is captioned by my maternal grandfather (Flight Officer Elzie E. “Moe” Mayfield) to be Corporal Alfred W. Cole. I believe he’s your uncle and was possibly a corporal at the time of the photo. I’m willing to share a scan of the photo with you if you’d like.

My uncle Alf Cole was the tailgunner on this aircraft when it was shot down. I am searching for any photos of the plane or crew that anyone may have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ps. there is a report filed by the fighter pilot that shot down the me262 and a report by S/sgt Gilbert the lone survivor in the care of the 490thBG memorial
