Lab. as test bed for Westinghouse J30 jet engine, later installed in FD-1 Phantom; Cornell Aero/Labs, Buffalo, NY as XPB-1 [83992]; (engine fitted under wing on external bomb shackles, but when starter burned out as ignition switch was wired in reverse); 4104 BU Rome 21/2/47; project dropped and aircraft transferred NAAF Mustin Fd 6/48; as 83992 Assigned VX-4 NAS Patuxent River 5/50 with TD Key West; sent for storage Litchfield Park 10/53, but scrapped for spares 24/11/54. Written off 1955.
