I have a letter sent from the navigator of B-17 44-8704 to my father (typically their navigator) who was undergoing rehab for a flak hit. The letter describes the plane being shot down, the chutes that emerged, the capture of those crew members, and their release on the approach of allied troops. I use the letter as a teaching aide but would be happy to send you a copy of the handwritten letter.

Rob, Hello, I am researching B-17 44-8704 on behalf of Capt. Barkalow’s niece, Miriam Barkalow Stuck. I would very much appreciate a copy of the letter as described. Capt. Barkalow’s A-2 jacket is on display at the USAF museum in Dayton OH. Information is scarce, and this would be a very fine contribution to the family records. Thank you in advance for any information you can contribute.
Best Regards,
Bob Telcher
