My father was a crew member on this B17, flying out of the desert of North Africa during spring/summer of 1943. He did the required 50 missions. No crew members were injured during that time and the plane was never damaged. His name was George Jacobi and was a bombardier/navigator. Their outfit was known as the Black Diamonds. George’s grandfather was born in Mannheim.

I see that you show 97 missions for Miss Fury, but my dad’s flight log shows he either piloted Miss Fury for its 100th mission on March 23, 1944 from Foggia, Italy to Stevr, Austria while in 99th bomb group. He also flew this plane on March 7, 1944 and March 11, 1944. He flew this plane 11 times while in Italy.

Thank you for the information. I will change the number of missions to “100+”.
Do you have more information? Or even a war diary of you dad?
