Hello Scott,
Currently doing a PhD on sugar beet genetics, and on the side I enjoy history quite a lot. I found out Hogaboam was a B-17 pilot before ending here. He is also a brilliant scientist and pionneer in producing varieties for USDA shortly after the war. I am extremely curious about the picture you spoke about of the “Hogie’s Heroes”, would you dare sent some of them to me at : augustindesrez@gmail.com ?
Thank you,
Augustin

Augustin, love your comments on sugar beets. One of my early childhood memories was my Mom trying to convince Grandpa that sugar was not good for you. He was not happy.
My brothers and I spent most summers living with our Grandpa and Grandma Hoagie. Grandpa never talked about his time in the Eighth. Early on we found his chest in the basement with his uniforms, hats and notebooks. When I was in high school my Aunt Judie invited Grandpa to be a guest speaker at her history class. After that he began telling us stories. I can be reached at davebaartmans@gmail.com

Scott, I am one of George Hogaboam’s grandchildren. I would love any pictures you have. All his grandchildren were very close to him and my grandma. I can be reached at davebaartmans@gmail.com
