This was my father’s airplane . He was the pilot who flew 51 missions in the African and Mediterranean theater Lt Colonel Frederick G Zimmerman. If you visit the Air & Space Museum in Washington DC you will see a DC3 or DC9 Silver Red and Blue hanging on the floor above the Spirit of St Louis. My father was the only Pilot for this plane. He flew Guy Lombardo’s Band from Luguardia Airport in New York to South Carolina to perform. Not long after it was retired to the Air and space Museum.
