Needle, S. Abrose, M.Leahy (3 Killed in Action); attacked by enemy aircraft at 32,000 ft, the highest yet recorded, and crash landed Roborough, Plymouth, Devon, UK. and burnt out. Written off. My father Squadron Leader Sturmey was flying the plane. They were attacked by 7 German fighter planes. 3 crew were killed. They crash landed at Roborough hitting a tank trap the plane exploded. The 4 remaining crew got the 3 bodies out of the aircraft. They were flying again soon after.
