The B-17, Lorrie Mae is named after my mother Lorraine Mae Hine, on the engine cowling is a JR for junior. LORRAINE is 95 years old and in very good health and lives in Southern California. Sadly my father, Frank Hine, the artist who did naming and was on the ground crew of Lorrie May passed away a few years ago. If you have anymore information about my father or the Lorrie Mae please contact me.

My dad, Lawrence Henry piloted the LM til the end of the war. He passed away in 2005

Patrick I was so excited to see your email. I’ve always wondered who piloted the LM. By the way my mom Lorraine just celebrated her 99th birthday on December 3rd and is still doing very good, she lives with my brother in Camarillo, CA.

Jim, Patrick’s father Hank is in the upper row, 3rd from left, followed by pilot Lee Pugsley and navigator Harold Lanier who was my father. Both Lee and my father passed away long ago and we’re proud to have served on the Lorrie Mae. I believe it was one of less than fifty B17’s to have survived 100 missions. Glad to hear the original Lorrie Mae is also going on 100!
