This was my Uncle’s ship, and there is an error in your information. This ship was assigned to the 562nd squadron of the 388th, not the 560th.

Hi John,
My uncle Phil Andrews was a copilot on Midge. I think this would be the same “Midge” I would love to compare notes with you to confirm my information. Unfortunately, mu uncle is no longer with us.

Hello John.
I try to find more details of a B-17 crash next to my home town, happened 31. Dec.1944 during a bomb mission to Hamburg.
It looks to me that your uncle´s ship fly next to the B17 of pilot James Ernest Senter that was shootdown and crashed.
Crew: 5KIA /4POW MACR 11242. Crashpoint was not Defzil Netherland. Correct is Beckdorf 30km away from Hamburg.
As far es I know both B17-AC flew next to gether in the high squadron formation during that mission.
Did your Uncle ever told you about what happened that Mission 31. Dec 1944?
Best regards
R.Höper
