My husband was Nicholas Hoolko, ball turret gunner, on the B-17, The Methuselah. His plane was shot down on Sept. 4, 1944. He was in a German prison camp for approximately 9 months. Nick passed away on January 14, 2010. Many years ago I had the privilege of meeting Earl Barr and his wife Nina and visiting with them. Nick and I had 3 children and 3 grandchildren. I always tell them that their father and grandfather, Nick, came from the greatest generation of TRUE Americans. They all believed in family, faith and country. God Bless all of Them. Renee Hoolko
