B-17F 42-30176, gesteuert von 1Lt. John L. Sundberg wurde etwa 10 Minuten vor der belgischen Küste von feindlichen Flugzeugen angegriffen, als es zum Ziel flog. Das Flugzeug verließ die Formation und es wurden sieben Schirme vom Flugzeug gesehen. Nach dieser Beobachtung wurde kein Aufschlag am Boden gesehen.

I have a War Log that was kept by my grandfather, Lester Schwab, who was the flight engineer on the Assassin. I’d be happy to share some pictures of the pages with you. I am also looking for more info on their mission.

Wonderful sketches, thanks for sharing. I’m also seeking more information on their mission, POW experiences etc. John Moyer went on to become an architect that designed and built many homes in the Coachella Valley. I’m always trying to find information about him and his life. Anything that you can share would be appreciated.

Close friend of mine was Franklin G. Barrett – left waist gunner on the “Assassin” B-17 – 42-30176. I have his autobiography and some photographs. e-mail me if you are interested in further information. I’d like to see some of the photographs you have to see if they are the same ones I have. Mike
