There has been much confusion surrounding the 2 planes involved in this incident. 42-31236, with the crew listed above was involved in a midair collision with 42-31538. However, 42-31236 was named The Nora, and 42-31538 was The Archbishop. German and American military records as well as personal accounts obtained by families of crew members on both planes confirm the plane names have been swapped.
1st LT John L. Dougherty was my grandfather. His wife’s name was Nora, and their daughter born in April of 1943 is also named Nora.

Thank you for your information.
It happened many times, that crew of two aircraft mixed up. Just saw and updated B-17s and Crews yesterday.
I haven’t yet checked 42-31236 and 42-31538 in detail. I will do updates as soon as possible (Last Update was August 2017). I am checking the B-17s from time by time and I will updating the information.
Cheers
