My Dad is in the Snafu crew photo above. They flew 28 missions, mostly in Snafu and were sent home in late April 1944. He told me that the plane flew one more mission with the new crew and was shot down. The name of all the men in the photograph is on the back side of the photo (I saw it on the 8th Airforce site).

Rick, My dad was the 2nd from left in the picture. He gave me this picture years ago. Passed away in 1990. Trying to find as much info as I can. Thanks

Bill, sorry, I just came across this site and your comment. My dad is the fourth from the left. He died in 2006, but never saw the photo. He told me about a guy from stars and stripes that took their picture but he never saw it. I came upon in in browsing an 8th AirForce site around 2010 or so.
But to the point, my dad talked about your dad (a tall, skinny Texan). My dad was mostly a top and side gunner and your dad was often the tail gunner. One story was that your dad’s heated boots weren’t working on one mission and he kept pacing to keep his feet warm and upon return to the base he said he walked to Berlin and back on that mission.
So you have the photo, not sure if you have all the names on the back identifying the guys in the photo (I found that on the 8th site also), also I have a Franc bill that dad had with several of his crew mate’s signature and your dad is one of them.
Not sure how this site works but hopefully you’ll get this. Doesn’t look like I can attach jpegs, so hopefully you can contact me and i can email them to you.
Best Regards,
Rick
