Kollision in der Luft mit B-17 #41-24415 ‚Yankee Doodle II‘ am 9. Mai 1943. Wurde jedoch repariert und danach wieder eingesetzt. Wurde am 8. September 1943 von Flak abgeschossen.

my father’s a 101 Air born guy ,older brother was harry carroll wast gunner on this AC. his words were: we got shot down, only he and tail gunner got out. he went out opposite gun port throwing the gun out.where was that gunner ? setting on the deck. was he wounded, don’t know. I later find out harry was wrong. 4 got out harry and tail gunner became POW soon as they hit the ground. 2 more evading capacity for a few days. harry didn’t know that. harry arrived home in June of 45 ,the day my mother and dad got married. my dad wounded times the last at bastougne dec 25. in the hospital till March 45 harry was best man. harry stayed in the service went to Korea was going to send him to Vietnam….he said he’ll no 3 wars is too many. retired 22 years. died when. 83. harry didn’t remember the plane had a name..
