The entry you made here is very faulty. The serial number of the machine is not correct. In addition the wrong pilot is shown! These errors occur when you copy from other websites. Gillogly crashed meadow! 10POW . The pilot shown is Warren George Jr., who flew the B-17 42-5171! He crashed in Tenstedt near Cappeln, Cloppenburg. I have been working on this case for a long time and explored the crash site years ago. In addition, the documents were mixed up in the MACR. friendly regards

Hallo Herr Urbansky,
Jing
ENGLISH:
Hello, Mr. Urbansky,
thanks for your comments and corrections.
The source of my entries are „Dave Osborne’s“ book about the B-17.
I am very aware that some entries are not correct. I noticed that when I entered them. After I have completed the database, the next step for me is to look through them one by one and, if available, to cross-check and correct them with the data from MACRs.
Unfortunately it will still take some time until I am done with everything. I estimate two years. The last 50 updated entries can be seen here:
https://b17flyingfortress.de/en/updates-in-database/
But I am very happy that other (local) historians are helping me with this. And I am very grateful for it.
Best wishes
Jing

Mr Urbansky is correct. I have been in contact with him. My father, Lt John B Parker, volunteered to replace the ship’s original bombardier who couldn’t fly that day for some reason. It was my father’s 1st mission, he had arrived in England only 5 days before. POW Stalag Luft III.

Hi Jing, American Air Museum entry now corrected. This entry was confused at MACR level with 42-29631. Source ‚Dave Osborne, B-17 Fortress Master Log‘, original source for both websites, was incorrect for same reason. Regards Al Skiff
