The belly gunner was Robert H. Swindler of Charlotte, North Carolina. Died December 1988.

The co-pilot of the American Maid B-17 #42-97086 was William F Kleine, last residence Centerville, Ohio. Bill survived the crash and was a POW at Stalag Luft 1 in Barth, Germany until the end of the war. He passed at 88 yrs. old in 2010.
