The whole crew survived. Pilot Shaw put them down in a potato field. The townspeople of Wettern, Belgium hid them from the Nazis in the basement of the town hall. From Tailgunner Leo O’Briens granddaughter. He rememebered running across the field as the Nazis arrived to search the wreckage.

Wetteren was already being liberated on september 5 1944, the people they saw where civilians, probably the saw them as german soldiers.
