B-17 43-38824 Details
Bruchladung bei Elene, Belgien. Info von Peter. Die B-17 wurde nach der Notlandung abgewrackt. Dass diese B-17 in die USA zurückkehrte ist sehr unwahrscheinlich.

My father, 1st Lt Arthur H. Lewis was the bombardier on this plane the day it crashlanded in Belgium. They were on mission 709 to Wiesbaden when they got hit by flack over the target and lost two engines. Limping home and losing altitude, Prigmore, the pilot ordered everyone to bail out while he safely crashlanded the plane along with John Malahy, the copilot. Everyone walked away from the incident, although both my dad and Malahy were wounded and ended up in a Brussels hospital for a while before returning to their base and Prigmore’s crew. I have visited the very site where this plane landed in a farmer’s field.
