My wife’s grandfather, Les Mills, was the ball turret gunner on the Spirit of Pittwood. I would love an addtional picture if it still avaliable for my Father-in-law.

My Neighbor was Heinz Wolfe, he flew as a waist gunner on the Sprit of Pittwood”. I would love to see the photo of that plane.

My dad, Cecil Orville Daniels, named his plane after the town he was born in. Pittwood Illinois. he painted the name on after he finished all his missions , because crews who put names on got shot down quicker.

My dad Donald Pittwood from Idaho moved to Seattle for war production after the war broke out : while still in HS, he worked at Boeing aircraft bucking rivets in nose sections on the B-17 production line…

My uncle was the tail gunner on this plane. Would love more pictures if any are available.
I remember as a kid seeing his flight jacket with two swastikas on the back for a me-109 and FW-190 kill. He said he did not see either plane go down but one was confirmed by the BYG.
