My father, Thomas Accardi, was the co-pilot on this mission. I believe some crew were lost but some were able to parachute out. My dad was injured by the flak but did parachute out. He was captured by local militia and turned over to German regulars. He was sent to Stalag Luft One where he was a prisoner for 9 months. His camp was freed by the advancing Russian army as they were driving west into Germany.
