Delivered Hunter 14/7/44; Presque Is 22/7/44; Assigned 429BS/2BG Amendola 30/7/44; Missing in Action Blechhammer 17/12/44 with Len Waldman, Co-pilot: Clayton Stemwedel, Navigator: Howard Kraus, Bombardier: Milton Bloom, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Tom Price, Radio Operator: John Storey, Ball turret gunner: Chas Walker, Waist gunner: John Deets, Waist gunner: Herb Jacobs,Tail gunner: Bill Schultz (10 evaded capture); force landed Yugoslavia, from where crew flew home on C-47. However on 10/1/44, despite radio nmot working correctly, an attempt to fly their B-17 from Belgrade to Bari ended in disaster when ship crashed at Pristina; with Waldman, Co-pilot: Stemwedel, plus five members of the 324th Service Gp: Maj Roy Covington, S/Sgts Eric Page, Clarry Junnisson, Arthur Brown and Cpl Earl Freed plus an unknown Italian Army captain (9 Killed in Service);MACR 11286.
