Flugzeug B-17G, 42-38006, wurde während des Angriffs von feindlichen Flugzeugen getroffen, drei Motoren wurden in Brand gesetzt. Das Flugzeug löste sich aus der Formation, drehte ab und ging geradeaus in den Sinkflug über, flachte dann ab und explodierte in der Luft. Es wurden zwei Fallschirme aus dem Flugzeug gesehen. Dies geschah kurz vor dem Abwurf der Bomben.

According to the Red Cross Michael J Schumacher survived the plane crash but died in a POW camp from a skull fracture. I think there was some additional information sent by the Red Cross after the war that I will try and find.
