Assigned to the 368BS/306BG [BO- ] AT Westover 24-Aug-42; Thurleigh 23-Sep-42; Missing in Action, Rennes 8-Mar-43. Aircraft was on a mission to bomb the railroad marshalling yards at Renne, France when it was attacked and shot down by German fighters. All of the crew baled oout except the pilot who was killed in the attack. The aircraft crashed at Colline, Servon-sur-Vilaine France. 1KIA 8POW 1EVD.

My name is Daniel, Donald Robert Huddle was my grandfather, shown listed above, he was the Right Waist Gunner. From my research, the B-17 41-24514 „Flying Fortress“ was nicknamed the The Queen of the Skies. Do you happen to have photographs of the entire crew?

On March 8, 1943, their B-17F (Serial Number 41-24514, nicknamed „The Queen of the Skies“) was shot down by a German Fw 190 fighter plane during a bombing mission to Rennes, France. Sgt. Huddle successfully bailed out, was captured by German forces, and spent the remainder of the conflict as a Prisoner of War
